Chris Whetzel has always loved to draw. He can recall crude portraits of family members from as early as what must have been three or four years old, and the doodles in textbooks and on his arms continued throughout high school. Faced with parents determined to send their son to a college, he prepared for what looked like a promising career as an accountant. And thus, the stage was set until his art teacher proposed his application to Philadelphia’s University of the Arts from which he graduated with a BFA in Illustration. Moving from rural Virginia to Philadelphia for school, Chris was surrounded by mischief, graffiti, and punk rock, and he channeled his years of city life into a unique, artistic voice. Currently located in New Paltz, NY, Chris has taken part in several group and solo gallery exhibitions. His client list includes Mountain Dew, ESPN The Magazine, Village Voice Media, Random House Books, Bloomberg Magazine, Financial Planning, USAA, Pace Communications, Source Media, Sidedoor Productions, Hammock Publishing, Philadelphia Magazine, Foundations Magazine, MYBusiness Magazine, Honolulu Magazine, Cincinnati Magazine, Registered Rep Magazine, Retail Traffic Magazine, Improper Bostonian Magazine, Arrive Magazine, and more.
